This month’s issue is a timely reminder that faith and science is a two-way conversation that is often quietly powerful for all involved.

We explore here the dialogue surrounding genomics and where it’s been and where it is heading. As with many issues we cover in Covalence, the pervasive question is “Who in society determines how technology is used and who benefits from the discoveries/therapies that are happening now and that are to come?”

In our news section, with Women’s History Month in mind, it is worth highlighting too that the Women in Science and Humanities (WISH) project, backed by the John Templeton Foundation, has launched an online survey seeking input from Christian women in science and related fields. As well as we highlight one woman, Grace Wolf-Chase, who has single handedly promoted faith and science interactions for more than two decades.

And to be clear, dialogue is happening each and every day. While Covalence is in a privileged position to document some of what is happening, we know we are only overhearing a small amount of what is being discussed in-person and over Zoom. If you are a scientist participating in such meetings or a pastor exploring the wonders of scientific discovery with your congregation, by all means reach out and let us know what you have been talking about. We would love to share your conversations with others who are looking to bridge what some have perceived as conflicting viewpoints rather than shared progress.

Be well,
